Microsoft takes over Yahoo Search
By: Peter Chubb | July 29, 2009 | 1 CommentThere have been a number of rumors over the past year that Yahoo will end up abandoning its Internet search business since Microsoft tried to take them over. Yahoo refused the bid, but in that year a number of talks have taken place and it now seems that Microsoft Bing will take over Yahoo Search.
According to BoomTown Blog, Yahoo is to scrap its constant struggle in trying to beat Google, instead leaving that job to Microsoft Bing. Once this new deal is struck, the ads that appear next to Bing’s search results will not be served by Yahoo either, instead this will be done by AdCenter, which is Microsoft technology.
The article does mention that Yahoo salespeople will still sell search ads; these will appear at the bottom of Yahoo and Bing search results. It is assumed that Yahoo will earn at least 80 percent of the resulting revenue.
If this news does turn out to be true and Yahoo announces that it will allow Bing to take the fight to Google, then this could be the first steps of Yahoo caving into Microsoft. Who knows, Yahoo might accept the next offer.
