IPhone 4G may have Samsung’s 1GHz ARM Chip

With ever increasing performance for handset processors becoming more and more in demand it now seems that ARM have created their fastest ARM Cortex A8-based chip. With many of handsets now pushing the 1GHz barrier it seems likely that these chips will be very popular.

The chip design is the same as the Apple iPhone processor however instead of the 600MHz clock speed this new chip clocks in at 1GHz, Many experts believe that as these chips are so similar to the 600MHz predecessor they could be used in the iPhone or Palm Pre with relatively low difficulty.

Apparently the 600MHz processor in the iPhone 3GS is underclocked form 833MHz so the difference isn’t that great. Check out the full story on Gizmodo.
