Prototype Netbook with Palm Pre CPU
By: Peter Chubb | July 28, 2009 | Leave a CommentWhen it comes to netbooks, it is a known fact that the Intel Atom is the preferred choice, but things could be about to change. ARM is already working on a prototype netbook, which runs on the same processor that can be found in a Palm Pre smartphone.
According to Crave, the prototype laptop does not have a name yet, but we do know that it has been built by Pegatron, the company owned by ASUS. The netbook uses the Freescale iMX515 CPU, which uses the same ARM Coretex-A8 chip that is in the Pre.
The processor used in the prototype has had some work done though, as it has been boosted to 1GHz. Many of you may think that does not sound much, but the processor is capable of running 3D gaming and 720p high-definition movies.
