Mobile broadband at 28Mbps from Telecom Italia
By: Peter Chubb | July 28, 2009 | Leave a CommentTelecom Italia has now launched a new service, which they are saying is the first city-wide mobile broadband service to offer speeds of up to 28 Mbps/s download and 5.8 Mbps/s upload. This new broadband service is now available in Milan, Italy and will be launched in Rome in October.
The new mobile broadband service is based on MIMO technology (Multiple Input and Multiple Output); the technology uses two radio antennas together to transmit data to a single user. It is this system that makes this high speed possible.
According to cellular-news.com, Telecom Italia will slowly extend its mobile broadband service internationally. Milan and Rome are Telecom Italia’s test-beds for its LTE service; this will be due out next year and will be provided by Ericsson.
