PS3 hurt by PS2 sales

We have a video for you to check out now, which is once again a debate on sales of the Playstation 2 and PS3. The argument is whether Sony should discontinue production of the PS2 in order to boost PS3 sales or not. What do you think?

Head over to TheGamerAccess to check out the video, its definately worth a watch if you have a spare 5 minutes to burn. The author of the video tries to identify reasons why people think that Sony should stop production of the PS2.

We can’t really find many reasons ourselves why the PS2 would harm sales of the PS3, it all comes down to a matter of personal preference at the end of the day. What are your views on this?

Sony simply need to crack on with the backward compatibility that’s talked about at present. If they can get the PS3 to finally play our back catalogue from the PS2 then there’s no reason for PS2 owners to be alienated or feel like there’s little point in an upgrade to the newer hardware.

Think about how many families will be entertaining the idea of an upgrade once they start with the “hang on? PS3 will play all the PS2 games we’ve been buying little Timmy all these years? Awesome!”. :)
