Major music labels are concerned that their Apple iTunes music sales have been reduced to just single-song purchases instead of whole albums. These music labels are now working with Apple to offer special bundled apps with albums in the hope of boasting album sales.
The nickname for this new app is called “Cocktail”, which Apple Insider explains is a multi-party collaboration between Apple, EMI, Universal, Warner and Sony. This new deal goes beyond the PDF liner notes that is seen in deals today.
Cocktail will be like an app; this will include the usual notes as well as separate lyrics and photos, allowing you to navigate outside of iTunes. You will even be able to play your music from this new app. This latest move has been forced upon Apple and the major record labels, as there are financial worries as albums are not selling.
