Following all of the recent reports announcing the release date of Windows 7 RTM Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has now announced that the RTM is complete. According to reports Steve signed a gold Windows 7 RTM DVD live at a sales event in Atlanta.
According to the report on InformationWeek developers with MSDN and TechNet subscriptions will be able to download the RTM on August 6th, this is also the case for independent software and hardware vendors.
Consumers will be able to get hold of the software as of October 22nd, whereas Microsoft Partner Program Gold/Certified members will receive the Windows 7 RTM software on August 16th, Microsoft Action Pack subscribers will have to wait another week as they can download the RTM on August 23rd.
The projected prices of Windows 7 are relatively low when compared to previous Operating System releases, in fact when compared to Vista prices they are roughly;y 10% cheaper when compared side-by-side, this is probably due to the recession. “The projected prices of Windows 7…are going to be relatively low…probably due to the recession.”
Yeah, right!
Ha, ha!
The price is cheaper because Windows Vista was such a disappointment, so people are not very excited about a replacement MS OS.
Plus, with the FREE Google Chrome OS coming on the scene Microsoft is wanting to try to encourage consumers to BUY rather than TRY!
