Palm Pre: iTunes Syncing back

Palm Pre: iTunes Syncing back

By: Jamie Pert | July 24, 2009 | 1 Comment

You may have read our post earlier this month regarding Apple intentionally blocking the Palm Pre from syncing with iTunes, well good news for you Palm Pre users, they have now re-enabled this functionality with Palm webOS 1.1.

With the release of webOS 1.1 you can now sync DRM-free media to your Palm Pre via iTunes, whether Apple will in turn re-block the synchronization is not yet known, however I feel it is quite likely. Other functionality added to webOS 1.1 will now allow users to remotely wipe personal data stored on a handset if they happen to have it stolen.

Yes I believe Apple will play a cat and mouse game over iTunes syncing with Palm. I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple has an update by next week to block Palm and the next week Palm has another update. This will probable continue until Palm comes up with a different way to sync on their phone without using iTunes. I don’t use iTunes anyway and I’m not going to pay them a buck a song and would just as well be happy with a copy and paste drag & drop into a Palm folder.
Don’t get me wrong, I have 5 hard drives filled with music. Most of it is oldies like the Beatles or Bob Seger. After buying the music on 45″s, 8 track, cassette, and CD I feel like I own the damned song. IF I downloaded it off some p2p site so what? I’ve paid my dues!
