Microsoft have recently released a statement stating that they do not have any plans to release a Blu-ray drive for its Xbox 360, following the flop of its HD drive many experts believed that they would follow Sony’s PlayStation 3 and offer a Blu-ray drive.
Microsoft seem to be concentrating on offering their instant watch 1080p videos which will be available via the Xbox Live Video Marketplace, currently the Video Marketplace offers over 20,000 movies and videos 5000 of which are in HD, this figure is growing and growing.
While it seems as if Microsoft are not even considering the Blu-ray drive this may just be to promote its 1080p videos, perhaps in the future they will release one.

I was one of the people who bought their HD drives, only i bought it just before they announced they would be scrapping HD dvd’s, great! If they do release these 1080p movies, then i would like an amount free that adds up to the value of my useless HD drive, this should be offered to all xbox customers who bought one of thier HD players! As far as 1080p downloads Vs Blu-ray go it’s a lot of hassle and disk space to download rather than getting a disk that you just stick in and play, come on microsoft sort it out!
