Amazon Acquires Zappos for almost $900 million

If you live outside the United States, then chances are you have not heard of Zappos.com. However that could be about to change since Amazon have decided to acquire the Las Vegas company for almost $900 million, but the exact figure has yet to be confirmed.

According to The Guardian, Amazon is no strangers to acquiring companies, such as Alexa, IMDB and Stanza. This latest deal is by far the online retailer’s biggest and looks set to be its most important one, as Zappos did have the potential to become the next Amazon.

Zappos has only been around for ten years or so and just recently have started to gain momentum; you only have to look at its $1bn in revenue last year to see that. Zappos who are known for selling shoes in the U.S. also supply clothes and accessories and it is no secret that they have a unique business approach.
