Apple Mac Profits up while PC Market Drops

Over the past month we have seen a number of price cuts across the Apple (AAPL) Mac range, as a result Apple have seen an increase in profits thanks to the attraction of new buyers. While sales of Macs are up, the PC market has dropped.

The price cut which was issued in June was the key in Apple’s increased profits, Bloomberg report that Apple has sold more than 2.6 million Macs in the quarter, beating the 2.4 million predictions by analyst, Shaw Wu. iPhone sales have also increased; this is due to the successful launch of the iPhone 3G S.

Apple sales are up by 12 percent and the company has seen a third-quarter profit increase of 15 percent. Apple seems to be bucking the trend and once they launch their much-rumored netbook, they can expect to see further growth in sales and in turn, a greater return in profits.
