Intel’s new 34nm SSD

Intel’s new range of 34nm Solid State Disks have now been announced, however there is no 320GB model, this is a disappointment to many as we have already seen Intel produce 80GB and 160GB SSD’s albeit 50nm versions.

In benchmarks the new 34nm drives have shown a marginal performance increase, Intel have admitted their selves that most users will not notice much difference. The real question it leaves is why manufacturer a drive which doesn’t greatly out-perform its predecessor, the answer apparently is to save costs.

Although definite prices and release dates are not yet confirmed, it seems that the 80GB model will sell for $225 and the 160GB will sell for $440. Check out Engadget for full details.
