Windows Home Server: Windows 7 Support

With the soon to be released Windows 7 demand so high Microsoft have now announced that the next update for Windows Home Server will add support for the new Operating System. This will allow you to backup and restore your Windows 7 computers.

The update (Power Pack 3) also features multimedia sharing enhancements and other improvements, however Mac backup and monitoring has not been added, this comes as a shock to many as it was a highly requested feature. A beta of Power Pack 3 is said to be emerging soon, you can apply to test the beta here, there are also free 120 day trials for Windows Home Server available here.

  1. I have been running WHS on an older machine since it came out and it has reliably backed up my network of computers at home (4 of them) ever since. If you have more than a couple of computers at home it is the best backup system in my opinion.

PowerPack3 for WHS updates Windows 7 compatability and continues to allow the daily back up of our machines which are all running Windows 7 RC.
