The format war was a one-way fight from the beginning and one year and five months ago, Toshiba had to admit defeat with its HD DVD format and accept the fact that Sony’s Blu-ray had won. In a final blow to Toshiba, they have officially announced that they will release a Blu-ray player.
PC World reports that Yomiuri Shimbun, a Japanese newspaper said that Toshiba would adopt the format that they once did battle with. When Toshiba had lost the format war, the electronics giant did say that they would pursue other technologies for consumers to gain access to high definition content.
There are many of you who wonder why Toshiba would want to enter the Blu-ray market? The answer is very simple. Toshiba knows that entering the Blu-ray market is great for business, they have seen the success that its rival are having, such as Sony and Panasonic. In spite of the weak economy, the Blu-ray format is doing well, and this continues to grow.
