A feature of Microsoft’s Hotmail was used by a hacker to steal confidential Twitter documents from an employee’s work e-mail account. TechCrunch reports that the hackers name was Hacker Croll, he was able to take advantage of the poor password practices.
Hacker Croll was convinced by TechCrunch to divulge the details of how he managed to attack Twitter. He even divulged how he was able to hack two email accounts, Twitter’s CEO, Evan Williams and Biz Stone, one of its co-founders.
Last week Hacker Croll hijacked the Gmail account of a Twitter employee, he did this by resetting the account’s password. All Croll had to do was answer one or two personal questions; this is what is used to authenticate the user. Croll did this by researching the employee by getting some information from the Internet.
