Kindle: Amazon Removing Ebooks
By: Jamie Pert | July 20, 2009 | 1 CommentSome of you may have noticed that Amazon have deleted two of George Orwell’s books from their Kindle, this is due to the books being unauthorized. This has resulted in Amazon refunding the purchase price, they have also sent emails to their customers explaining the removal.
The ebook’s were for the “Animal Farm” and “1984” titles, the automatic deletion has caused a bit of an uproar as people feel that it is the “equivalent of Barnes & Noble using a crowbar or lock pick to break into your home or business, then stealing back a previous physical book purchase, replacing it with the equivalent value in cash,”.
It is thought that Amazon are trying to avoid this from happening again by re-looking at the rules and regulations and released a statement saying “We are changing our systems so that in the future we will not remove books from customers’ devices in these circumstances.” Check out InformationWeek for full details.
