There are rumors that a final Windows 7 RTM build has been hitting the Internet on a number of file sharing networks. Toms Hardware has reported that a number of piracy scene groups have released iso disc images with the filename “7600.16385.090713-1255_x86fre_client_en-us_Retail_Ultimate-GRMCULFRER_EN_DVD.iso.”
It is not certain how this build differs from build 7600 that was doing the rounds on the Internet on Sunday, but looking at the filename; it looks as though the build was completed on July 13, 2009. This makes it a few days newer than the one leaked on Sunday.
Microsoft has commented on this issue, saying, “Just because a single build may have ‘leaked’ it does not signal the completion of a milestone such as RTM.” Microsoft has since warned users not to download and install the leaked build of Windows 7, and it is certain to contain a malware payload.
Microsoft said that once Windows 7 RTM is ready, they would announce it officially.
