Mozilla Firefox 3.5 Security Vulnerability
By: Jamie Pert | July 16, 2009 | Leave a CommentSince Mozilla released Firefox 3.5 back in June security wise it has almost been faultless, however yesterday Mozilla confirmed a security vulnerability had been discovered, this bug is said to potentially allow a hacker to hijack a machine running the browser.
According to a Firefox contributor the security vulnerability discovery was self inflicted, this is due to Mozilla’s bug and change tracking database. According to reports the vulnerability is within the TraceMonkey JavaScript engine, this feature was new to Firefox 3.5 so other versions are not vulnerable via this threat.
The director of Mozilla’s community development released a statement saying “Mozilla developers are working on a fix for this issue, and a Firefox security update will be sent out as soon as the fix is completed and tested,” Therefore we should expect a fix to be on its way soon.
