Dell’s Technology Strategist Doug Anson has admitted that Dell are evaluating using Google Chrome OS in its netbooks, he is quoted as saying “These alternative operating environments are truly ‘different’ from the traditional Windows platform - they don’t attempt to simply ‘mimic’ Windows”.
Obviously Dell are not in a position to confirm whether they will definitely use Google Chrome OS as no stable release is available yet, however another Linux distribution called Mobiln has also caught Dell’s attention, and Mobiln is a lot more tried and tested, therefore we may see a Dell netbook released soon running Moblin.
One of Dell’s major considerations will be that if they supply a netbook with Google’s Chrome OS they will be saving a lot of money on licensing, this will enable Dell to further drop the price of their netbooks, this could have a huge effect on Microsoft Operating System sales.

Look at Dell…MS must have really upset them about something. They’re actively searching for alternative OSes.
I think it is more the fact that Windows costs money, Linux OS’s are free
