Snow Leopard’s Safari: hardware accelerated 3D CSS Visual Effects

You may have read our post a while back which questioned Apple’s decision to not support Adobe’s Flash, well a video has emerged on MacRumor’s, this video shows what Apple intend on using instead, and it does look very impressive, check out the video below.

The video shows Snow Leopard’s Safari web browser running accelerated 3D CSS Visual Effects. The 3D effects you see have been proposed for standards inclusion, if this becomes a standard all browsers will start to utilize them.

The main usage for Flash at the moment is for video playback, this is where a dispute is currently taking place, Apple, Google and other browser developers cannot agree on a single video codec for HTML5 to use, until this does occur it will just be delayed.
