We have an article for you to read now, which debates whether Sony should continue to support the Playstation 2 console or not. The article is from AssociatedContent and they believe that Sony should continue on with the PS2, giving various reasons why.

While most of you will have mixed opinions on the PS2, the article points out the facts that no-one can deny. The first is the massive user base that the PS2 still has. With 136 million units worldwide, it is the biggest selling games console to date.

Other reasons they suggest is profitability and strong support, as Sony will always have strong third-party support from developers who continue to churn out PS2 versions of games, along side PSP and PS3 versions.

Even with the recent price tag though, is there anyone out there who has recently went out and bought a PS2? I doubt there is many of you in that category. Let us know your thoughts on the PS2 and if you think Sony should discontinue it or not.

    Sony should stop supporting the ps2 after 10 years on the market for 2 reasons;

    To show their customers that are serious about their previously stated 10-year plan for their consoles. And to demonstrate to existing ps3 owners that the ps3 is actually a product Sony takes seriously and plans to support fully.

    Sony hasn’t been fully supporting the ps3 as long as the ps2 is still kicking.

    At a sad guess, it’s probably still making them more money (per unit and per game). :-\
