PS3 Slim Update: Confirmed by GameTrailers employee

Following on from our earlier post about the PS3 Slim video showing the apparent device in the Philippines, we have an update on that story. Turns out that the PS3 Slim video is real, according to a GameTrailers employee.

As Examiner points out, does that mean that the PS3 Slim is already on sale over in the Philippines? Surely not. It is certainly exciting news though, if that model is in fact the PS3 Slim and we have just seen an early leak of it.

The Tokyo Game Show is coming this September, so perhaps it will be the time when Sony finally spills the beans on their worst kept secret. No wait, that was the PSPGo wasn’t it?

no thoughts, price cut the original ps3 plz.

They have. Over the course of three years, the PS3 has dropped $200 from $599 to $399. Yet consumers want it even cheaper, not caring if they put Sony out of business. What good is a severely price-cut PS3 if the company can’t afford to make them?

I think alex was implying that Sony should spend their time reducing the costs of the current form factor and not worry about the slim PS3 (if it exists).

The PS3 is a lovely looking console. Sturdy, very quiet and stunning in piano black. Sod the slim version. Concentrate on the price drop.

    SONY CEO: howard.stringer@am.sony.com

    Ask him if it’s real.
