Netflix Outage: Still down, up soon
By: Peter Chubb | July 13, 2009
Netflix users have been left disappointed, as it seems that the website is down. Netflix.com is not down for everyone, we had no trouble get on to the website, although it was a little slow. Softsailer also reported no problems, but a number of users have been reporting a Netflix outage.
Those in charge over at Netflix posted a small statement on the Netflix website stating that Netflix is temporarily unavailable, they did add to reassure users that DVD shipments are still being processed as normal. Users can still watch movies through their Netflix ready devices.
It does seem that this problem is isolated to certain areas in the country, engineers are working hard but it is not certain how long this problem will go on for. Maybe users should stop complaining for a while just to allow the engineers to get the service back up soon.

You report that even though the Netflix web site is down, they are still processing shipments as usual. That may or not be true. I sent our last DVD back to Netflix almost two weeks ago and we have not yet received our next one. It may be a problem with Netflix or it may be a problem with the mail (which would be the first mail glitch I’ve experienced in the two years that I’ve used Netflix). All I know is that I am unable to contact them to find out what the problem is, and they keep extracting my monthly fees, even though I am not receiving any DVDs
I sent one back three days ago and have the next one already. I don't think a two week timeline has anything to do with this website failure. I'd call them ASAP.
Maybe the problem isnt that Netflix is having outages, maybe the problem is that Netflix is trying not to tell anybody. They wouldn’t receive so many phone calls and emails and other angry correspondance if they would post a message, send an email or something. So now people are wondering how reliable a service that does nothing to notify them when there is an issue and that is being worked on, actually is. Mr. Chubb you need to look at this from a consumers point of view, we are paying money to this company to provide a service and for the last week it has not been providing. And it’s happenning all too often nowadays, not just with Netflix but all over the spectrum. Maybe it’s time for companies to step up and actually provide the service part of customer service.
August 1st here, Netflix is still down.
