Palm Pre webOS v1.1 software update
By: Peter Chubb | July 10, 2009 | Leave a CommentFollowing on from our recent report of webOS 1.0.4 update, there are reports that the webOS 1.1 software update for the Palm Pre could be ready for download within the next month. According to PreCentral.net, the update will offer Exchange Active Sync policies and Security along with a host of other improvements.
A source has told PreCentral.net that most of the updates will focus on beefing up the enterprise and corporate features of the Palm Pre, such as adding a number of EAS improvements, which you can see listed below.
- Auto-lock
- Device wipe after a certain number of failed PIN attempts
- IT-initiated remote wipe
- Improved digital certificates
- Required PIN with complexity
There are also rumors that webOS v1.1 will feature a number of new applications, it is not certain if this will be offered as 3rd party apps in the App Catalog or if Palm will write them. If Palm wishes for the Pre to have a chance at the enterprise market, then these news features are absolutely necessary.
