Modern Warfare 2 box has Call of Duty branding

You may have read our post towards the end of June stating that Modern Warfare 2 will no longer be accompanied with the Call Of Duty tag, well rumors started to circulate this morning which seemed to suggest this wasn’t the case.

Initially the rumors were based on a leaked case for the game, however since this occurred Activision have now released an official statement which can be seen below.

“Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 is the direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare… We have focused our attention on Modern Warfare in order to most effectively communicate the fact that this is the first true sequel in the Call of Duty series.”

This now clears up all the incorrect rumors regarding Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and now just leaves us waiting for the release of the biggest launch of 2009.
