AT&T’s Exclusive Wireless Deals Defended

AT&T have been defending themselves over the exclusive wireless deals that they have with Apple for the iPhone. It comes after AT&T were put under pressure by the government over their current contract implications.

As reported from InformationWeek, it’s not only AT&T who are under pressure as Verizon Wireless are also under scrutiny from government officials. Both carriers combined have around 150 million subscribers and AT&T have stated that they are trying to extend their current iPhone deal to a further few years.

In a letter to a government official, AT&T’s senior VP of legislative affairs James Cicconi made the following comments:

“Exclusive handsets have provided U.S. consumers the most advanced devices in the world at distinctly affordable rates.”
