Apple has certainly been busy over the past week, as they have filed six patents all of which will increase the advancements with future iPhone’s. One such filing is the new ID App; this application will help to identify objects that are surrounding the iPhone user.
Apple Insider has been looking at this ID App in more detail. They note that although the current iPhone can take a picture of some art in a museum, it does not have the ability to offer the user detailed information on that object.
An application such as ID App would be able to automatically determine the current environment that the user is in and then select from a list of detection technology, something like a camera, RFID reader or IR image capture device. The iPhone could then search a remote database and then offer the information that you need.
