U.S. Cyber Attacks: Appears to be a MyDoom variant

According to a recent article from Information Week, the recent Malware attacks that targeted Web sites of U.S. government, including The White House the FAA and the Department of Homeland Security all looks as though they were a MyDoom variant.

The attack, which was called distributed denial of service (DDOS), has now hit more than two dozen government agencies and companies in the United State and South Korea. The latest developments in malware looks to be targeted just for this kind of attack, this is according to some of the latest research.

The recent attack tries to flood web servers; it starts with an initial request to connect. The result was a number of these websites were taken down for a number of days. Thankfully, most are now back online, but we have to wonder how long for.
