Google Chrome OS: 5 reasons it may have problems
By: Alan Ng | July 9, 2009 | 2 CommentsFollowing on from all the positive news about Google Chrome OS and the expectation after it’s announcement, we have found an article which highlights 5 main reasons why Google Chrome OS is a bad idea.
The article comes from website Slate, who have pointed out 5 potential problems for the upcoming OS. The first problem is the fact that Google Chrome OS will be based on Linux. The problem with Linux is that is still ‘hasn’t caught on’ with consumers and the fact that software compatibility remains a big issue. Linux is unable to run day to day programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, iTunes or Photoshop and the list goes on.
Google has put a main emphasis for Chrome OS on the internet browser. Slate states that the consumer simply ‘isn’t ready to run everything on the web yet’.
Other problems include rivalry with Microsoft and they have also highlighted the failed programs for Google such as Knol, Lively and Google Checkout.
