Google Chrome Operating System and Hardware Manufacturers
By: Peter Chubb | July 9, 2009
We reported yesterday that Google announced that they were to offer an operating system called Google Chrome OS. Not much was know about which hardware manufacturers they were working with, but now Google have started to shed some light on this.
According to The Register, yesterday Google posted on its blog that its hardware partners would be Toshiba, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Lenovo, Hewlett-Packard, Freescale, ASUS and Acer. This is Google’s initial list, but this is certain to grow.
We have to wonder why Dell has not appeared on the list maybe that will come in time. The most interesting information about this Google Chrome Operating System is that it will be FREE. Now that is certainly a kick in the Teeth for Microsoft and its Windows OS.
With the news of all these big hardware manufacturers and the fact that we will not have to put our hands in our pockets, Google Chrome OS is certain to be popular with users.
