Sprint not selling Palm Pre on the phone
By: Jamie Pert | July 8, 2009
According to Engadget Sprint are stating that as of July 8th customers will no longer be able to order the Palm Pre by calling Sprint’s telesales. It seems now Sprint are trying to promote in-store sales instead.
The statement that Sprint released states that the change has been made so we “can focus inventory in sales channels where customers have the best opportunity to experience Ready Now, and we can deliver the best purchasing experience”.
As you can see this doesn’t really pinpoint why they have made this decision, it could be that the unexpected extremely high sales are now causing so many telesales that Sprint are struggling to stock their stores.

Or it could be that it’s cheaper and faster for Sprint to have a customer exchange or return a defective phone to a store than it is to handle the process over the phone. From what I have read (and the fact that I’ve personally had to return the phone twice) there are many defective Pres out there.
Yes that is a good point.
