Google Chrome OS: Gaming and Cloud-Computing
By: Jamie Pert | July 8, 2009 | Leave a CommentFollowing Google’s shock announcement of plans to release their own Operating System, more details are now emerging on how Google Chrome OS plans to cope with gaming and Google’s cloud-computing philosophy. Google’s new Operating System is an open-source alternative to Windows,.
One of Google’s main considerations whilst designing the Operating System is said to be that data and email should available at any location at anytime, Google hopes to become the Operating System of choice for all systems, from netbooks to full sized desktops.
With Google’s OS there will be a lot less demand on systems, this does seem to hint that games will not be ran on the new Operating System, instead you will be able to stream games via the internet, this will in effect allow you to pause your game on one PC and carry on playing on a different PC.
This may trigger a new look at how people play games, whether this will take off is yet to be seen.
On the whole I like the Google philosophy of doing anything from any location, however this does become very dependant on Internet connections.
