The rumors of a Google operating system looks as though it is coming true and is to be based on the Google Chrome Browser. Google announced on its blog on Tuesday that Google Chrome OS would be in installed in a range of Netbooks in the latter part of 2010. We do not know a specific release date, but we will keep you informed.
According to Cnet News, Linux will run under the covers of this open-source project, while the applications run from the web. This means that Google Cloud has just taken a bigger step. This certainly shows that Google are very serious about making the Web into a foundation, not only for static pages but for active applications as well, including Google Docs and Gmail.
This latest move from Google has added more fuel to the fire that there will now be even lower prices for Netbooks, as it is a known fact that running Windows is more costly. One thing is certain, Google’s move in to offering an OS for Netbooks is sure to ruffle a few feathers.
