Eee PC LED Mod

Eee PC LED Mod

By: Jamie Pert | July 8, 2009 | Leave a Comment

A mod has emerged showing an LED added to an Eee PC 901, the mod consists of a three-color LED which can blink for attention when a new Twitter, email or instant message comes in.

The idea is similar to that which is used in cellphones, different flash indications can mean different things. At the moment the LED mod works with Gmail, Pidgin and Twitter, however this has the ability to be added to a lot more software.

Hardware wise the LED is located on the lid of the laptop, this allows you to see the flash from across the room, even when the screen is on standby. The LED is powered via USB, the circuit board is hidden near the battery.
