Microsoft Windows 7: Release to manufacturing July 13
By: Peter Chubb | July 7, 2009 | Leave a CommentThere is just one week to go until Microsoft announces that its Windows 7 operating system is all ready for release. July 13, 2009 will be the magic day that the new OS is declared ready, perfect timing as it is the opening day for Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC).
With just one week to go, Microsoft are still testing the software and are choosing from the RTM candidate builds. RTM stands for release to manufacturing and is the stage where development has been completed and the next process is when the product then moves into duplication and distribution.
Computer World reports that a number of websites are citing July 13 as Windows 7′s RTM date, these include GeekSmack.net and TechARP.com. The latter has a solid track record when it comes to leaking Microsoft plans.
We reported in a recent post that Windows 7 has its released date on October 22, 2009. Costco currently offer the best deals for the new OS.
