Microsoft: hackers exploiting an unpatched bug in DirectX
By: Jamie Pert | July 7, 2009 | Leave a CommentAccording to reports shown on ComputerWorld, Microsoft have confirmed that hackers have found an unpatched bug in Direct X which they are currently exploiting.
As with any vulnerability like this I’m sure Microsoft will be working hard to create a patch for this issue, however a spokesperson has stated that he cannot confirm whether the patch will be ready for 14th Jul,y which is when the next scheduled security update occurs.
Currently only users who are running Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 are vulnerable, and this hack is only possible for users running Internet Explorer 6 or 7. Users of the above operating systems will be fine if using an alternative browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
For further details on the risk go to ComputerWorld, this is also includes measure to help prevent you being exploited, my advice is to download Mozilla Firefox 3.5.
