BMW: 1.5 million new Mini’s celebrated
By: Peter Chubb | July 7, 2009 | Leave a CommentWho would have thought that when BMW decided to start building the Mini it would become as popular as it has? The small iconic vehicle, which is 50-years old, launched a sexy convertible version and has shifted 1.5 million units of the BMW Mini since its launch back in 2001.
According to AutoBlog, the new BMW Mini is outselling the original Mini at a faster pace, selling 5.3 million units from 1959 to 2000. BMW have to be glad that they made the decision to purchase Rover so that they could produce the Mini, as it has been their biggest selling vehicle.
Some customers have paid over $30,000 to own a top-of-the-range Mini. The small car is now available in 80 countries, which are being assembled in Oxford, England. Will the BMW Mini be able to sell more than 5.3 million units as the original model did?
