Apple App Store: First Anniversary

It has almost been a year since the launch of the Apple App Store and they have already started to celebrate. Apple now has a special selection on iTunes of some of their favorite applications and games in celebration of its first anniversary.

As you may be aware, the first anniversary of the App Store is not until July 11, 2009, but a number of MacRumors readers could access the new App Store a few days early thanks to the service being leaked by Apple following the iPhone 2.0 firmware update.

The special App Store page offers a list of Apple’s favorite applications; this list will vary depending which country you are in. Some of the favorite listings in the U.S. include MLB at Bat, Brushes, Things, Toki Tori and many more.

In just one year, the App Store has managed to build up a collection of more than 56,000 apps. Back in April, the App Store reached its one-billionth download. Let us know in the comments area below which your favorite app is for the iPhone or iPod Touch.
