1 million downloads for Sirius iPhone app
By: Jamie Pert | July 7, 2009 | Leave a CommentSirius Radio are stating that their Sirius Radio application for the Apple iPhone and the iPod Touch has been downloaded more than a million times within the first two weeks.
The application allows users to access 120 different radio stations which cover a wide range of subject matters; these include standard music radio stations, news stations, sports stations and more. One thing that the application does not offer is coverage of one of its most popular shows which features Howard Stern, this is said to be due to licensing issues.
At the moment Sirius is said to be struggling therefore this application could boost the company, although at the moment final costs are not confirmed it is expected to cost users $13 a month for standalone online streaming.
There is currently a promotion offering free trial subscriptions for users, this is probably the reason for the applications popularity, whether people will become paying customers is still yet to be seen.
