Do you prefer a resistive or capacitive touchscreen? It’s no secret that the capacitive touchscreen on Apple’s iPhone has been a key factor in the success it continues to enjoy. Windows Mobile enabled phones have so far been in favor of the resistive touchscreen, but that could all be set to change following recent reports.
According to this MsMobiles story, an employee of Microsoft has stated that resistive displays are better because they have cheaper manufacturing costs and make hand recognition easier.
Despite those comments though, he also revealed that several manufacturers are considering the use of capacitive touchscreens in future Windows Mobile 6.5 powered phones.
He stated: ”Windows Mobile 6.5 has primarily been designed for resistive screens because some input areas still rely on small controls and require a high level of input accuracy that can’t be easily achieved with a finger and require a stylus; however some device manufacturers are considering options to ship capacitive screens.”
