Should Windows 7 be free to Vista users?
By: Peter Chubb | July 1, 2009 | 6 CommentsThe release of Windows 7 cannot come soon enough for Windows Vista users, and we have since learned that the price of the new operating system will be comparable to Vista. We reported recently that Costco is to offer the best deal with the new software.
Questions have been raised about the cost of the Windows 7; InfoWorld has even suggested that the new OS should be free for Vista users. This would certainly be a great idea, but not one that Microsoft would go for.
However if Microsoft wanted to get in favor with its customers, then a better deal for Vista users would certainly help. The problem is, Vista was hailed as being the best ever operating system, but let’s face it, it failed badly.
The retail pricing for Windows 7 ranges from $130 to $200, this depend on which version you choose. Being a Mac owner seems to be a better deal, as Apple offers an upgrade price of just $29 for Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
One thing is certain, this debate will not go away, come on Microsoft give us something back.
