
MacBook Air v1.2 Firmware Update: compatibility for replacement batteries
By: Jamie Pert | July 1, 2009 | Leave a CommentAccording to AppleInsider Apple recently released a firmware update for its MacBook Air notebooks, this firmware update is said to add support for a new series of replacement batteries.
The firmware update is an extremely small download and makes changes in Mac OS X 10.5.7 to modify the way the micro-controller on the logic board controls power functions and a few other settings.
With these changes to the firmware the batteries must differ in quite a way, that said Apple have not released any details on the changes, however Mac maker say that the changes relate to the advanced chemistry within the batteries and ultimately allow the MacBook Air to maintain a longer charge.
