According to the Wall Street Journal computer manufacturing giants Dell are now looking into developing a hand-held mobile device specifically designed for Internet access. Engineers are said to be developing prototypes which are said to resemble Apple’s iPod Touch.
The hand-held devices are specifically for Internet use only and do not have cellphone capabilities. They will run a Linux-based Android OS and will be powered by Arm designed chips. It is thought that this is being released to test the market and if the idea doesn’t take off the plan will be scrapped.
All of this information is still an unconfirmed rumor which Dell stated they will not comment on, if the rumor turns out to be true this will be the first mobile Internet device (MID) that Dell have created.
