iPhone 3GS 3D Games: More advanced hardware
By: Jamie Pert | June 30, 2009 | Leave a CommentWe recently posted about the iPhone 3GS having industry leading (for smartphones) benchmark performance when it came to JavaScipt benchmarking, well it turns out that the handsets hardware has also made it possible for better 3D gaming performance.
This impressive hardware has brought on news that 3 new Quake games will be coming to the iPhone 3GS. Quake 1, 2 and Arena. The only thing that seems to hold back gaming on smartphones is that gameplay can sometimes be a bit hit and miss, that said if developers manage to get the game to running stably and it is easy to play the iPhone could also be looked upon as a handheld console.
Only time will tell whether this will become a serious platform for games to be developed on, but the potential is definitely there.
