Businesses: Windows XP to 7 upgrade and the cost
By: Peter Chubb | June 30, 2009
The news that Microsoft is to charge businesses running on Windows XP to upgrade to Windows 7 have been met with some mixed reactions. Information Week has reported that Microsoft is to discontinue its program where business users can upgrade to Windows 7 for free after October once the Windows 7 service pack becomes available for download.
Not surprisingly, Microsoft has not publicized this widely, well we wonder why. We reported in a recent post that Windows 7 is to be released on October 22, 2009. The software giant has not indicated when the first service pack will be made available, but it will not be until late 2010.
We reported in an earlier post that Costco is to offer the lowest price to upgrade to Windows 7, as they have reduced prices by another $5. The price that you will pay for Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade is $45 and $95 for Windows 7 Professional upgrade.
