All Sony PS3′s to get PS2 backwards compatibility
By: Alan Ng | June 30, 2009 | 8 CommentsLooks like PS3 owners have something to rejoice over as we have learned that Sony are preparing to bring back backwards compatibility for all future Playstation 3 consoles.
As reported from Siliconera, Sony are planning to ‘emulate’ the Emotion Engine that is required to play all PS2 games. If they manage to do this, it will mean that they will be able to provide backwards compatibility without actually having the correct hardware to do it.
According to the report above, Sony has already acquired the patent which will allow them to start work on this new technology. Could we start to see backwards compatibility in the upcoming PS3 Slim console?
