Windows 7 Price: Double in Europe when compared to U.S.

When Windows 7 hits the shelves in October Windows Home Premium is expected to retail at €119.99 in the EU and £79.99 in the UK, when exchanged at today’s exchange rate that shows that EU members using the Euro will be paying the equivalent of $168.66, and the UK citizens will be paying the equivalent of $132.14.
These prices do not sound to bad however when compared to the same product in the U.S they will be paying $119 (Once the pre-order discount has expired). This means that on the whole UK residents will pay approximately 10% more then US residents, and EU residents will pay 41% more than US residents. Check out the full list of itemized list of prices on ITWorld.
Not only will Europeans be paying more but they will be getting less, European versions of the Operating System will not be coming with Microsoft Internet Explorer, this won’t affect most end users as computer manufacturers will be in control of what Internet browser(s) computers with Windows 7 will be coming with. The reason is to deter the EU Antitrust regulators who want Microsoft to take more drastic action, read more into it here as this also effects EU upgrades.
In my opinion if you are thinking of purchasing to Windows 7 within the next year it is well worth pre-ordering the product, even if you don’t intend to install it straight away (Unless it is in a corporate environment).
