Sony PSP Phone: More Investigation

It has been revealed that Sony are considering development on a cellphone with PSP-like features, in an attempt to compete with the Apple iPhone and iPod devices.

That’s according to this Reuters article, who took their source from the Nikkei business daily over the weekend. Further details indicate that Sony are planning to set up a project team to work on the new device as early as July.

How would you feel about a gaming device combined with all the features from a Sony Ericsson handset? It sounds pretty good to us.

I have loathed mobile phone games (and gaming) until purchasing the iPhone. A screen (and the necessary horsepower) to have a real gaming experience… in my eyes. With that in mind, the idea of a Sony Ericsson handset with the power of something like a PSP bodes very well. I had SE handsets for the last 4 years or so and they were splendid to use. K850, K800, etc. If Sony can retain that quality navigation and usability whilst simultaneously coupling the PSP hardware then they really might have something solid for the smart phone market.
