Japan sells out of Windows 7 pre-orders

Many Japanese retailers are reporting that pre-orders of Windows 7 are currently sold out, if this is true it means that the sell out occurred within 1.5 days of the planned 10 day sale.
Whether this is true is yet to be confirmed however there is no obvious reason for the retailers to lie about this. Microsoft have told Engadget Japanese that 30,000 copies were sold in that time-frame. This could imply that Japanese residents have missed their chance on getting the cheap pre-order price of Windows 7, after all Microsoft always added the disclaimer “while stocks last”, as we find out more we will keep you updated.
This report has only occurred in Japan so far, and stocks seem to be fine within the US. Check out the Engadget for further details.
