Google Voice: Another Review
By: Jamie Pert | June 29, 2009 | Leave a CommentTowards the end of last week I posted about the gradual release of Google Voice, now it has been out a few days a few reviews are beginning to emerge, early indications seem to be pretty good, however there are a few issues with some of the features it offers. For the full review 3 page review check out ComputerWorld.
At the moment the software is only available for former users of GrandCentral and some industry experts, however this will slowly be opened up for all users as the software becomes more stable, whether it will be a completely free service is yet to be seen.
The easiest way of explaining what Google Voice does is it offers a central location for all of your phone numbers to be managed, this central location is not restricted by a landline nor an IP Address, this means wherever in the world you are you can access this via the Internet.
One thing you can relate it to is your web email account, no matter what your changes in circumstances eg move house, change cell phone, change job, migrate to different country your Google Voice phone number stays with you. As this is quite a unique idea it is quite hard to get your head around at first, read the review and it should become clear.
So far the call routing and recording reviews seem very good, whereas the voice transcription does need a little work, either way it seems a good first step for the service and will only get better. Remember see the full review here.
